Make your positive thoughts flow like a river

Let it flow like a river

So it’s been 2 weeks since I became a part-time dentist… and I’m loving it!  My theory “do less of what you don’t enjoy and with time you’ll enjoy it” is already proving true as my inherent interest in dentistry is returning.  I’m generally enjoying my time in work now, being more productive, relishing the good patient interactions and seeing the challenge in the more difficult ones.  But the most exciting part is I’ve started working on my other projects.

I’ve realised making small simple changes can influence your general happiness and well being.  For me, leaving the house just 15 minutes earlier for work means my days can start out more organised and less stressful; finding the time to try to chat to my patients for a little longer where possible leads to higher job satisfaction; stopping those feelings of dread on a Sunday and enjoying the moment instead.

Although it can be very hard to think positive thoughts when you’re feeling down it really can be just a matter of changing your mindset.  To distract yourself get stuck in to a team sport, relax and recuperate with Yoga or Pilates, read articles about your passions, practice your hobbies or lose yourself in music or a good book!

  1. Great post, Hazy! I read it weeks ago, and got distracted before I had a chance to add my 2 cents. 😉 I’m a firm believer in the small simple changes. That is what will ultimately get you where you want to go. It always seems like we make huge leaps and miraculously change overnight, but that’s not how it works at all. I’m so glad you’re finding freedom and enjoyment in your new arrangement. Can’t wait to hear more.
